Yellow represents solidarity, green peace and lush vegetation, and red courage and determination. The white star symbolizes the union of the country.
History
Adopted on October 21, 2010, replacing the 1974 socialist flag which had a cogwheel and rice stalks.
Curiosities
Myanmar is one of the few countries to have changed its flag in the 21st century. The change coincided with the transition from military to civilian government.
